Say “NO” By Default

I’ve just finished reading ReWork by Jason Fried and David Heinemeier. Love this book. Tons of great ideas that turn old business ideas on their head. What I love about it is how much I completely relate to these guys philosophies on building a business, cause we’ve done or do many of the same things.

Anyways, there’s one section in there where they talk about the concept of Saying “NO” by default.

In business, especially as we are growing the business, or trying to grow the business, we have so many options, opportunities and things we think we should do. We have a tendency to say “yes” to too many things.

One of the things I’ve learned from successful entrepreneurs, from coaches, and from personal experience, is that successful entrepreneurs are very good at saying “no”!

Listen to this short training call I did a couple weeks ago on our morning wake up call where I discuss this discipline of saying “no” by default.

In the call I pose a challenge to the listeners.

Go ahead and leave a comment, let me know if you accept my challenge and leave any comments over the next 30 days to let me know how the challenge has affected your business.

Overcome Self Doubt Instantly With a Simple Technique

You really can overcome self-doubt with a simple technique. One of the lessons that you learn about when your skiing or snowboarding and if you’ve done this or a similar sport you’ll understand- there’s the lesson of commitment, and it comes up over and over again.

It’s very relevant to your life, and to your business, I see a lot of entrepreneurs struggle because they simply struggle to commit, they’ve got a lot of different ideas, a lot of different concepts, and they are constantly in a state of trying to get it perfect, trying to get it right.

How to be More Productive by Increasing “Productivity Vibration”

I’m an online entrepreneur. I am a husband to my soul mate and true love, a father to 2 incredible young kids (ages 3 & 5), a son, a friend, a business partner, an investor, a teacher, a coach, a bit of an adrenaline junkie and I enjoy enjoying the pleasures of life. That keeps me pretty busy :)

So I am always looking for how to be more productive in my life and business.

I used to think that being more productive simply meant working harder, faster and longer. I could get into periods of time where I literally vanished from the home (my body may have been there, but my presence was lost in work). I would bury my head in my work and my projects and think the only way I could produce was more time focused on work.

This belief that productivity comes from just working harder and longer is truly dangerous to your health, your well-being, your marriage, your family, your business and your productivity. Read More

Is It True? “Your Are What You Do?”

You are not what you SAY, but what you DO“.  At first thought I’ve always accepted this statement as true, and from one perspective it is. However, this type of belief can actually hold you back if you allow it to.

Are we truly defined by our actions of the past?

Or do we, at any time we choose, have the power to release the actions of our past and re-define ourselves in the present? Can such simple statements sometimes hold us back from achieving our potential, by shaping our subconscious belief systems. Consider…
